Hello!
Welcome!
About Me...
Hello, my name is Kelli VanSchoick . I was born on July 11, 1985 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I was the first of only two girls born in my family. Don't blink your eyes as you drive through my hometown or you may miss the whole town! I graduated from Marcellus High School, class of 2003. I graduated with a "big" class of 63 students. In high school I was involved with various activities. I played four years of basketball and softball, was part of the Wildcat Marching, Concert and Jazz Band as a trombone player, and involved in Student Council. Most of my high school career I stayed pretty busy with the activities I was involved in. However, during the summer I always found time to "play" on the lake. My family has a cottage on Hardy Damn in Newaygo County and I have spent countless summers going for boat rides, catching some sun ray's, tubing, water skiing and most importantly being with my family and friends. I also enjoy to camp. One of my favorite places to came is at Aloha State Park in Cheboygan, MI. Aloha State Park is on one of the most beautiful lakes in the State of Michigan (in my opinion), Mullett Lake which is the center of the Inland Waterway.
Grown-Up Life...
I very much enjoyed my high school endeavors but I could not wait for college! My first year I attended Adrian College with hopes of participating on the basketball team. However, due to a torn rotator cuff my hopes were quickly gone. I then transferred to Kalamazoo Valley Community College and participated on the basketball team. I completed two years at "Valley" and once again transferred to Western Michigan University where I eventually graduated with a Bachelor's of Science.
My career started with a school on the south side of Chicago, The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts). This was an experience that I will never forget as it allowed me to grow professionally and personally. This was the first time I was exposed to being a minority. Majority of other teachers at ChiArts were of a different race than me. I was often to referred to as "that P.E. white teacher." Although I really enjoyed teaching at ChiArts and living the city life, I chose to accept a position close to my hometown. I currently teach Health Education to 6th-8th grade students at Three Rivers Middle School. I feel I am one of the few people who can say I truly love my job. I also coach freshman girls basketball and middle school volleyball. Go Cats!
